so i'm back home.
sweet home.
kim picked me up from the airport, I quickly unpacked, threw somethings in the washer, took a shower, gchatted, and then headed to fido to give allie a hug and say hello, visit katie at firefinch, and then met up with old med school people at whole foods.
last night was elena's baby shower which i missed, so i had a gift to give her...which forgot to bring along. gabby, her sorority sister came in from atlanta, and silpa, keerthi, and silpa's new boyfriend came up from memphis. it was quite a reunion. i hadn't seent silpa in a year...and things had gotten sort of ugly for no reason known to me for a bit there.
but whatever weirdness had occurred was no longer present, and it was nice to see everyone all together. elena looks very mommy-like; denil (silpa's bf) is quality, which is no surprise since he is friends with an old high school friend of mine; keerthi is currently applying to medical school.
everyone seems to be moving along. in three weeks there will be a new little person to tote around, so that's exciting and scary all at once.
i got tons of questions about where i want to go and how the interviewing schedule looks, etc.
so much happens in a year. a year ago i had found my niche in nashville life, turned my back (so to speak) on living in a medical school bubble, and embraced the fact that i was going to be single and okay for the duration of medical school.
haha. what do they say? if you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.
no joke.
a couple months later, and my life got turned on its head in the most enjoyable way imaginable.
6 months from that and my sandcastle sort of crashed around me.
how melodramatic right?
and now what is it? october? 4 months of feeling miserable, scared, relieved, and angry at different turns. and now i am sort of back to where i was last fall.
a few tweaks here and there. and now the future looms in the distance. and the days of interviewing come nearer. i wonder what i'll think when i look at this post this time next year.
my first advent calendar!
