Nashville- a farewell

i remember the first time i came to nashville.

it was the spring break of my senior year of high school: 2001.

i came for a prospective student weekend.

fell in love with vandy right away. and i knew that's where i was going.

over the 4 years i was in college, i ventured out of the vander-bubble, and learned my way around the city. getting familiar with brentwood and cool springs....never going to east nashville or bellevue. walking around hillsboro village and to elliston place. attending concerts, finding cool shops, lying about in centennial park.

i thought that was it.

but i stayed for medical school.

and then i really made a life here. found a church and a non-blood family. cried here. loved here. laughed tons. learned new things about myself and others. lost friends and made new ones. dealt with death and birth and everything in between. honestly, grew into a woman.

and now it's time to leave.

and i don't want to. but i do.

Oh Nashville,
you have loved me well. your arms are cozy and warm. and i know they will always be open for me. thank you for not kicking me out of your lap. thank you for bubble tea, sushi, cupcakes, good burgers, all the music i replay in my mind, your parks, UAL, your dance parties, your deluges and heatwaves. thank you for festivals, your southern accent, your sweet tea, and your kindness. thank you for making me feel at home.

i will love you always. and will miss you dearly. to all my friends here: i love you. please keep me in your prayers for good Godly friends, a church family, not killing patients, being safe, and finding my niche in Philly. you will always have a sofa-sleeper if you decide to visit.

i guess that'll do for now. i'll probably write the night before i leave.....or not. :-)

Oh dear girl! I just hope I'll be able to say the same things when it's time for me to move along...

You WILL find a loving "non-blood" family in Philly! I promise you this! As for the other stuff? Let God's grace, mercy, love, wisdom and strength guide you through those things.

Not killing people. That made me laugh. It's something I would never think to worry about, but then again, I'm not an M.D.
